Starting the Sci-Fi Blaster

I had a bit of time to start my sci-fi blaster yesterday morning. Using the “Nerf Havok”  as the basis I filed the barrel at the end and did the same to a detachable “Nerf Recon” barrel and super-glued it on to extend it. I removed the manual cocking arm and attached the two handles from that onto the barrel too as some additional detail as there was some space in it. I then glued the sights down and the power switch and switch cover and started to paint the front of the gun black.

Below is an example of a customised Nerf Havok. Mine is longer. On inspection I notice the owner of this gun added the ammo box lid to the top of the gun for detail. Something I may well do too!

Actually had time to add some spikes to the headfin on my clone helmet.Cheek, brow and panel spikes will be added next. I also did a dry run with a respirator mounted on the front which looks good. I will need vacuum cleaner hose, ribbed hose,  and other DIY store supplies before I can make any major changes.

Won an auction for 3 Nerf guns. Havok, Deploy and Recon.
After customisation and a paint-job they look great as prop guns as you can see from the photos. eBay is your friend!

My clone trooper and clone commander helmets arrived. Both are toy helmets that talk and have a voice changer too.The red commander also has the LED light at the side.Technically they are helms not helmets (helm-et not covering the whole head, same as bracer and brace-let on your arms etcetera) but I’ll try to hold back on that.

I bought two of these airsoft masks to use as shoulder pads (aka spaulders or pauldrons) they will be fitted to my hockey armour. I will cover the eyes and add details such as bolts, spikes, wires and tubes then paint the whole upper torso armour to match.I will also be making a stomach armour section to allow my body to pivot with will make it more comfortable when worn at an event or fancy dress party.

Here we have the core influences in my sci-fi armour costume.
